As legalization is spreading across the nation, we find more evidence that cannabis is a benefit to a free society. What people seldom discuss is the spiritual dimension which it opens. In truth, I can only speak for myself, and my personal experience with it.
There is a reason why archaeologists found cannabis in a 2,800-year-old mummy of a shaman.
I've had some of my most profound visions and spiritual experiences while high. There are entire ritual practices devised to help the initiate attain meditate states through willed use of the herb. I believe it's a sacred herb, particularly in the conscious states below the Veil of Paroketh in the Tree of Life. That makes weed very helpful for granting me visionary states from those particular perspectives in the lower part of The Tree. But I digress, to use plain language, it helps the soothe the mind into states of introspection, contemplation and meditation. However, from what I understand, this doesn't always just happen, but must be willed by the individual, which is why not every stoner is a visionary. I've been using it in rituals to invoke visions, which result in drawings and sometimes paintings of hidden worlds.
It's too bad the War on Drugs campaign was the US government's declaration of war on it's own people. I loathe the infectious ignorance the government propagated, and it's selective incarceration of tax-paying citizens because of the color of their skin. If there is one thing that should end this discrimination, it's how expensive it is to keep the "brown people" in jail. At some point America must face this pragmatic truth: racism is bad for business. To those of us with a conscience, this is another un-American legacy for Americans of today and tomorrow to be embarrassed about. This moral fallacy creates a cognitive dissonance that undermines our respect for the law and our national identity as free country. There are still those fighting in the wrong side of history. They're like Nazi soldiers holding the last line of defense in doomed 1945 Berlin. A free man or woman has the right to smoke, ingest, consume what they will, without infringing on another's rights - it's not rocket science, it's basic human rights! It's only a matter of time now. With the information age, and and death by old age, change is inevitable.
Soon, I'll be able to go to a store, and buy a strain that's just right for the creative endeavor I want to accomplish that day. While I've seriously considered using magick to expedite this process in New Jersey, I've decided to better apply my focus in personal matters. After all, the battle without must first be won within.
